CANNES: Led by a team of supermodels, The Face, a top offering from Shine International, aims to appoint the new “face” of a popular cosmetics brand.

The format, which originated in the U.S., is executive produced by Naomi Campbell and made by Princess Productions and Shine TV. Following on the success of the U.S. original, The Face is brand new for Sky Living HD in the U.K. In the British series, Campbell and fellow international supermodels Erin O’Connor and Caroline Winberg mentor teams of aspiring models who are competing to become the face of one of the world’s biggest cosmetics brands. Shine International is keen to start sales on the British version at MIPCOM, alongside The Bridge. Produced by Shine America for FX, The Bridge has already been distributed in 120 territories worldwide. Katrina Neylon, Shine International’s senior VP of sales for EMEA, points to The Smoke as another star in the company’s catalogue. “This is the gripping story of what it’s really like to be a firefighter in a city station, through the emotional stories around the crew’s working and personal lives,” Neylon says.

Shine International's other format highlights include Anything Goes, a live studio entertainment show that looks on as well-known celebrities participate in humorous sketches and games. The program first aired on TF1 in France and will be adapted in ten territories by the end of the year. The main goal of Best Bakery, created for ITV in the U.K., is to find a country’s best independent, family-run or community bakery. Shine International is also showcasing Village Cook-Off, a food competition from Sweden’s SVT featuring teams of amateur chefs who were rounded up by local celebrities.

Idris Elba may be best known for his roles in such dramas as Luther and The Wire, but in King of Speed, this self-confessed adrenaline-junkie gets behind the wheel to explore white-knuckle racing. Shine International is presenting the doc along with The Burrowers this MIPCOM. “The Burrowers offers a brand-new perspective on the underground world of water voles, rabbits, badgers and moles, capturing their habitats through the camera lens with spectacular never-before-seen footage,” explains Georgia Brown, the company’s director of acquisitions. Shine International is also showcasing for buyers the new FOX culinary competition MasterChef Junior. The series, which extends the MasterChef brand to a younger age group, is based on the successful U.K. and Australian format.
