LONDON: ITV Studios Global Entertainment (ITVS GE) has confirmed a multi-year first-look arrangement with Warp Films for scripted TV projects.

Warp Films is behind This is England ’86 and the sequel This is England ’88. Warp is currently producing the drama Southcliffe for Channel 4. ITVS GE will be exclusively representing Warp’s scripted content internationally.

Ruth Clarke, the director of global acquisitions and co-productions for ITVS GE, commented: “Warp’s reputation for edgy, thought-provoking films that command an almost cult following was very attractive to us. Their productions offer an alternative point of view to the mainstream and we think this approach, translated to television, will have a very clear place in the international market.”

Ruth added: “Working with a wide range of producers is at the heart of our strategy; diversity and flexibility in how we work and who we with work with is allowing us to continue to extend the breath of our portfolio.”

Mark Herbert, the CEO of Warp, said: “There are exciting opportunities in international drama right now. We wanted to find the right partner to help us create truly international television. Our ethos has always been to support talent in creating authored work and as we got to know Maria and the team at ITVS GE, we could see that they understood the importance of this to Warp and would be well positioned to find the right international homes for our shows.”
