GENEVA: Members of the European Broadcasting Union (EBU) are making the Eurovision-organized Magic Circus Show a yearly event, to be delivered across eight public broadcasters in Europe over the Christmas season.

The entertainment program successfully ran in 2010 and 2011. The circus show features more than 60 children from all across Europe performing a range of acts under the big top in Geneva. The 90-minute show will be recorded on November 17, and the broadcasts will follow during prime-time family slots on eight public-broadcast channels over the holiday season.

Co-producers on board are France 3, RTP of Portugal, RTR of Russia, RTS of Switzerland, TROS of the Netherlands, VRT Ketnet in Belgium, BNT in Bulgaria and Armenia TV. Each participating channel holds a casting session for children who perform circus acts. One to three acts are selected per country. The artists then prepare for their performances with the help of a teacher or coach. The acts include jugglers, acrobats, trapeze artists, clowns, air gymnasts and more.

Nadja Burkhardt, the executive supervisor of the event from the EBU, said:
“I am confident that this year’s Magic Circus Show will be a feast of entertainment.” She continued: “The past two shows have given us a really good platform to create an even better show, and I am looking forward to viewers from all over Europe enjoying it.”
