Star Trek Franchise Headed to Syfy UK

LONDON: Syfy in the U.K. is becoming the broadcast home for Star Trek: The Next Generation, Star Trek: Voyager and Star Trek: Deep Space Nine via a deal with CBS Studios International.

Star Trek launches on November 5 at 7 p.m. The channel becomes the first to deliver Star Trek: The Next Generation in HD.

Adam Collings, the channel director of Syfy UK, said: “We know our viewers love the Star Trek franchise, so in the year that The Next Generation celebrates its 25th anniversary, we are thrilled to be the first channel to bring the series to U.K. fans in stunning high definition.”

Stephen Tague, the senior VP for Europe at CBS Studios International, added: “We are pleased that Syfy audiences will have the opportunity to experience Star Trek: The Next Generation in HD along with other series in this iconic franchise. This acquisition is another example of how CBS’s deep library of content continues to be current and relevant for audiences around the world.”
