Reed MIDEM Reports 12,900 Delegates

CANNES: MIPCOM officially wraps today in Cannes, with Reed MIDEM reporting 12,900 delegates hailing from 104 countries, of which 4,400 were buyers. 

Of the buyers in attendance, more than 500 were from the VOD market. There was a spike in the number of companies from Latin America, up 36 percent; China, with 116 companies, marking a 30-percent increase; South Korea, touting 119 companies, up 12 percent; and Canada, which was the country of honor this year, with 252 companies representing the contingent, a gain of 11 percent. The amount of U.S. companies at MIPCOM also grew, up 11 percent. This included all the major U.S. studios as well as a first-time appearance from DreamWorks. 

"Whether it is in Latin America, Russia, China or the Middle East, we have seen new players and new activity at MIPCOM," said Laurine Garaude, the director of the television division at Reed MIDEM.
