LONDON: Paul Heaney, formerly the president and managing director of Cineflix Rights, has set up TCB Media Rights, a development and distribution outfit.

The company will focus on bolstering traditional distribution activities by working closely with producers and broadcasters at the earliest stage. The company will work to facilitate the co-financing of series, secure pre-sales and develop productions across multiple revenue streams and interplaying platforms. TCB Media Rights will be attending MIPCOM. The search for a company COO has also begun.

Heaney, the managing director of TCB Media Rights, says: “The rights and content distribution market has changed substantially over the last decade, with new technologies and emerging markets presenting both challenges and opportunities to the industry. The old models are being updated already by the smarter players in the rights exploitation business.

“TCB Media Rights will offer a fresh approach to doing business in this new landscape, leading to greater returns on IP success. This more inclusive model for content owners and creators establishes a new collaborative relationship between distributor and producer/broadcaster, one which will offer a richer and deeper experience than that provided by the role of the traditional distributor.

“We also understand from the bigger players that it is crucial to look to scale, to some ownership of the content pipeline, and to have rights leverage through great content. The future of the IP ecosystem, with the myriad of opportunity and diversity of revenue stream, along with levering it effectively, is an important part of helping our partners to grow the value of their IP and their business.”
