Elizabeth Guider Reports: CBSSI Enters Output Deal with SBS

LOS ANGELES: CBS Studios International (CBSSI) unveiled Wednesday in the midst of the L.A. Screenings the renewal of a multi-year output deal with SBS Broadcasting’s flagship Dutch networks.

The renewal secures for ProSieben-owned SBS’s Netherlands outlets the free-to-air rights for TV series from the Hollywood studio, most of which air Stateside on the top-rated CBS network or on The CW, which is co-owned with Warner Bros.

CBS Studios International’s programming includes series like the CSI and NCIS franchises, Hawaii Five-0 and The Good Wife; these and future titles will be broadcast on Net5, SBS 6 and Veronica.

No financial details were made available by the partners.

Rozan Hamaker, SBS’s head of acquisitions, said in a statement that the deal "enables SBS to continue a partnership that has been successful for both parties. It also gives SBS first choice from future supply of new TV series from CBS Studios International.

"The renewal is part of the aspiration of SBS to ensure and improve on quality programming for the coming years," he added.

CBS Studios Intl. prexy Armando Nuñez said that matching his division’s programming with strong broadcasters like SBS "helps expand the global appeal of CBS shows and enhances our position as Europe’s top supplier of U.S. content."

NCIS and NCIS: Los Angeles anchor Tuesday prime-time programming on SBS 6, Hawaii Five-0 will return on Veronica this fall and The Good Wife runs in prime-time Saturday night on Net5.
