MUNICH: The French DTT channel Direct 8 has picked up the series The Last Cop, which just launched in its third season in Germany on Sat.1, from SevenOne International.

Locally titled Mick Brisgau, the series will air daily on Direct 8, beginning March 5. The series is about young cop Mick Brisgau, who is injured during a mission in the ’80s and ends up in a permanent coma. Seventeen years later he suddenly wakes up in the 21st century.

Aline Avedikian, the regional sales manager for France at SevenOne International, said, “The Last Cop is one of Germany’s most successful crime series. Women love him, bad guys fear him: Mick is a classic old-school cop from the ’80s who is torpedoed into modern times. This great series fits perfectly for Direct 8 and I am sure its audience will love Mick le flic.”

"I am delighted, that Direct 8 could secure the rights to this truly original series,” added Yann Le Prado, the director of acquisitions and
diversification of Direct 8. “It has proven to be a great success in Germany and we believe that Mick Brisgau’s great personality will fascinate the French audience.”
