TMG & MGM Strike Multi-Year Output Deal

MUNICH: As part of an exclusive output deal, Tele München Group (TMG) has gained access to the free-TV rights for a number of feature films, including Peter Jackson’s The Hobbit movies, and TV series from MGM for German-speaking Europe.

The deal, which covers a five-year period, includes more than 200 highlights from the MGM library. This includes all new MGM productions with a theatrical release in Germany, with titles such as The Zookeeper. The upcoming slate includes the new James Bond action adventure Skyfall as well as The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey and The Hobbit: There and Back Again. On the TV side, titles include the MTV series Teen Wolf. A number of key library films are also part of the pact.

Herbert Kloiber, the CEO of TMG, commented: "This agreement with MGM is a great start into 2012 for us. We are also looking forward to bringing top film & TV product from MGM to German TV audiences over the next few years."
