Modern Family, Boardwalk Empire Win SAG Awards

LOS ANGELES: At last night’s 18th annual Screen Actors Guild (SAG) Awards, the cast of Boardwalk Empire won for best ensemble performance in a drama, while Modern Family took the win on the comedy side.

Individual performance wins went to Steve Buscemi for Boardwalk Empire and Jessica Lange for American Horror Story in the drama category. For comedy, 30 Rock‘s Alec Baldwin and Betty White of Hot in Cleveland received the honors. Outstanding performance by a male actor in a TV movie or mini-series went to Paul Giamatti for Too Big to Fail, with Kate Winslet winning for best female for her role in Mildred Pierce.

The cast of The Help won for outstanding performance in a motion picture, while the movie also scored individual nods for Viola Davis as female lead and Octavia Spencer as supporting actress. Jean Dujardin won for best male lead actor for The Artist and Christopher Plummer took the supporting win for Beginners.

Mary Tyler Moore was presented with the Life Achievement Award last night. SAG also honored stunt ensembles, with Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2 winning for motion picture and Game of Thrones for television.
