TVE to Air In the Night Garden

LONDON, September 8: TVE
will broadcast BBC Worldwide’s In the Night Garden in Spain starting September 10, while Hasbro will
launch seven key merchandising lines for the property.

TVE will air the series,
under the title El Jardin de los Sueños, as part of its Los
Lunnnis
time slot. Hasbro, the
global master toy licensee for the show, will launch the lines in Spain in time
for Christmas, focusing on the core
characters—Igglepiggle, Upsy Daisy and Makka Pakka. Bi-plano, the
licensing agent for BBC Worldwide in Spain, will also launch new licensees and
Big Picture has signed a deal to distribute DVDs in 2009. The show has
currently sold to 23 countries, including Canada for Treehouse and Australia
for ABC.

In the Night Garden, aimed at preschool audiences, is produced by
Ragdoll Productions, the creators of the Teletubbies. The series is about a magical picture book place
where a diverse community of toys live out their comical adventures together.
Words, rhymes and music carry children through the world with the loveable and
adventurous characters and nursery rhyme nonsense.

Manuel Farelo, the
director of children’s programming for TVE, said: “In the Night Garden reinforces TVE’s nursery programs’ quality
commitment. This way the company encourages trustworthy programs for parents
and educators. Quality contents based on values transmission mixed with fun,
entertainment and educational content. In summary—a commitment to achieve
our leadership in quality.”
