ZDF Boards Swedish Thriller Till Death Do Us Part

ZDF has boarded the upcoming Swedish thriller Till Death Do Us Part as a co-producer alongside TV4, SF Studios and Film Stockholm.

“We are thrilled to have ZDF join us on Till Death Do Us Part,” said Annika Schmidt, head of German originals and European co-productions for Dynamic Television, which is distributing the six-part series. “ZDF has a long-standing reputation for high-quality crime dramas, and their involvement further underscores the international appeal for this sophisticated series.”

The series follows a woman whose world is turned upside down when her husband is suspected of murder. Convinced of his innocence, she takes on the role of his lawyer. As secrets begin to surface, she has to face the prospect that he might be guilty.

The series is led by Aliette Opheim (Patriot, Black Crab) and Filip Berg (A Man Called Ove, Black Lake), with additional cast including Adam Lundgren (Whiskey on the Rocks, Chernobyl), Joel Spira (Top Dog, Agatha Christie’s Hjerson), Madeleine Martin (Jana—Marked for Life, Lea), Nanna Blondell (House of the Dragon, Black Widow) and Christopher Wagelin (Ronja, the Robber’s Daughter; The Restaurant).

Till Death Do Us Part is written by Veronica Zacco, based on an original idea by Zacco, Björn Carlström and Stefan Thunberg. It is directed by Julia Lindström.

“This is a series that truly captured us from the very first script—it has incredible tension, suspense and powerful emotions that will surprise audiences at every turn,” said Johanna Lind, head of drama at TV4. “A fantastic team has worked on this project, and their drive and high level of ambition really shines through in the series.”

“ZDF has a long tradition of co-producing outstanding Scandi-noir series with our Swedish and international partners,” commented Maik Platzen, executive producer at ZDF. “We are delighted to continue this tradition with a series as superbly written, directed, and acted as Till Death Do Us Part.”

Per Janérus, CEO and producer at Harmonica Films, added, “We are thrilled to welcome ZDF to Till Death Do Us Part and to continue our close collaboration with TV4 and Dynamic Television. The commitment from our partners is a clear validation of the ambition and premium storytelling we strive for at Harmonica Films. With Veronica’s sharp writing and Julia’s bold direction, this is a project that will resonate strongly with audiences both in Sweden and internationally.”
