Viaplay to Debut The Hunt for Jasper S. in the Netherlands

The Hunt for Jasper S., a true-crime drama produced by Viaplay and Pupkin, is set to be the next scripted Viaplay original in the Netherlands.

“This is a gripping, character-driven story about a specific time in Dutch history,” said Filippa Wallestam, Nordic Entertainment Group’s chief content officer. “Viaplay is internationally renowned for the quality of our original shows, and viewers will see that on full display here. We will blend local storytelling with our Nordic touch to create a compelling series that has a lasting impact on Dutch audiences.”

The Hunt for Jasper S. tells the story of the search for a killer that deeply impacted Dutch society, showing how the country was confronted with conspiracy theories that were fueled by social media. The crime remained unsolved for years until an investigative reporter and DNA evidence blew the case open. The Hunt for Jasper S. (De Jacht op Jasper S.) will premiere exclusively on Viaplay in the Netherlands and across Viaplay’s markets.

The Hunt for Jasper S. is produced by showrunner Willem Bosch and creative producer Pieter Kuijpers (The Spectacular, Riphagen), with Kennard Bos producing for Viaplay.

Bosch added: “For over ten years, I’ve been researching the idea of turning the search for Jasper S. into a series. I’ve always envisioned it as an extremely Dutch Nordic noir, so there’s no better partner than Viaplay. This is a collaboration that I’m really looking forward to.”
