Viaplay has ordered a third and final season of the Danish psychological crime drama Face to Face.

Headlined by Lars Mikkelsen (The Witcher, House of Cards), each episode of the series is structured around a single conversation. Face to Face is created and directed by Christoffer Boe (Warrior, A Taste of Hunger), produced by Miso Film and distributed internationally by Fremantle. The new season will premiere exclusively on Viaplay later this year.

In Face to Face, tycoon Holger Lang attempts to uncover the truth about the murder of Christina Rasmussen, who he had named as his heir. Filming on season three recently commenced in Copenhagen. The first two seasons received eight nominations at the Danish Film Awards.

Christoffer Boe: “Holger Lang is both fascinating and frightening—perfect for a series about murder. When we first met him in season one, he was a potential killer, but this season he will take us all the way to the secrets behind Christina’s death. It’s fantastic to be able to close this story with Lars Mikkelsen in the lead.”

Filippa Wallestam, Nordic Entertainment Group’s chief content officer, said: “Face to Face strips Nordic noir down to the essentials—suspense, psychology and style. In doing so, it gives a platform for unforgettable performances and cinematography and reimagines the entire genre’s possibilities. We can’t wait to bring this final season to audiences and critics alike.”
