The U.S. Spanish-language network Pasiones has picked up the Turkish hit Mother to air as part of its lineup of telenovelas and drama series.

The critically acclaimed drama is an adaptation of an award-winning Japanese scripted series. It has been dubbed in Spanish for its U.S. premiere, which is set for February 8 at 7 p.m.

Madre is an incredible series, scrutinizing the multifaceted and sometimes contentious dynamic that can exist between mothers and daughters through its depiction of various maternal relationships,” said Marina Dimitrius, senior director of programming and on-air promotions for Hemisphere Media Group, Pasiones’ parent company. “It also sheds light on the all-too-real issues of child abuse and neglect, issues that have become even more salient during the COVID-19 pandemic; the drama adds in the angle of personal and societal responsibility in the face of these problems as well. We strive to provide our audiences not only with premium, high-quality content but also endeavor to include content that can spark conversation and raise awareness of important subjects. We are committed to airing the most compelling dramas the industry has to offer, and Madre undoubtedly fits the bill.”
