The Danish crime series The Sommerdahl Murders has been renewed for a fourth season, which is slated to premiere in March 2023.

Based on Anna Grue’s best-selling book franchise, the series is a co-production between Dynamic Television, ZDF, ndF, Sequoia Global Alliance and the Danish broadcaster TV2. The third season, which rolled out on TV2 earlier this year, has been picked up by Acorn TV for the U.S.

A blue-sky take on the Nordic noir genre, The Sommerdahl Murders is set in a picturesque town on the Danish coastline, with each episode revolving around a murder investigation solved by Dan Sommerdahl (Peter Mygind) and his best friend, Detective Superintendent Flemming Torp (André Babikian).

In season four, Dan Sommerdahl falls madly in love, bringing up the question of how solving murder mysteries and protecting Elsinore will go if he’s blinded by love. Rumle Hammerich and Annika Appelin are set to direct the new season of The Sommerdahl Murders. The series is created by Lolita Bellstar (Lulu & Leon, The Legacy), who serves as head writer alongside Lars K. Andersen (The Killing, Countdown Copenhagen).

Daniel March and Klaus Zimmermann, managing partners at Dynamic Television, said: “We continue to be very proud of how strongly The Sommerdahl Murders performs for our partners globally. The renewal is the direct result of the incredible talent and passion the cast and crew continually deliver each and every season.”
