Night in Paradise, STARZPLAY’s first German-language original, has commenced principal photography in Berlin.

Based on the graphic novel by Frank Schmolke, the six-part series will follow struggling taxi driver Vincent (Jürgen Vogel) and his estranged daughter Joni (Lea Drinda) as they drift separately through the city. But apocalyptic events force their lives to collide once more as their old wounds are reopened and Berlin erupts.

Night in Paradise will be shot between July and October this year in Berlin and in Brussels, Belgium. It will be available to stream on STARZPLAY across its footprint across Europe and Latin America.

Produced by the ITV Studios company Windlight Pictures, Night in Paradise is written by Matthias Glasner (Das Boot) and Hannah Schopf (Tiger Girl), with Glasner also directing the majority of the series alongside Bettina Oberli (My Wonderful Wanda). Heinrich Ambrosch and his company Satel Film are serving as co-producers. ITV Studios will handle international distribution. The series will be supported with funds from the German Motion Picture Fund, Medienboard Berlin-Brandenburg, the Belgian Tax Shelter Regime and Wallimage. Belga Productions will handle the physical production in Belgium.
