Das Boot, produced by Bavaria Fiction, has been renewed by Sky for a fourth season ahead of its season three premiere.

The German series follows the tense struggles of a young U-boat crew during World War II as they engage in the Battle of the Atlantic. The third season sees the crew go to Northern Germany’s Kiel, the major naval base of the German Reich.

The cast includes Tom Wlaschiha (Game of Thrones), Franz Dinda (The Cloud), Rick Okon (Tatort), Pierre Kiwitt (Lobos sucios), Leonard Scheicher (Finsterworld) and Robert Stadlober (Summer Storm).

Das Boot is written by head writers Colin Teevan and Tony Saint, as well as staff writer Judith Angerbauer. The first five episodes of season three are directed by Hans Steinbichler (Winter Journey, The Diary of Anne Frank), while the latter five are directed by Dennis Gansel (The Wave, Mechanic—Resurrection).

Season three will be available in all Sky markets, including the U.K., Ireland, Italy, Germany, Austria and Switzerland. NBCUniversal Global Distribution will handle international sales. Production for season four is set to start in June.
