Series Mania, France’s National Center for Cinema and Moving Image (CNC) and Israel’s Gesher Multicultural Film Fund are calling for applications for the first edition of the Franco-Israeli Co-Writing Residency for Drama Series.

Through this co-writing residency project, five French and five Israeli screenwriters will work together in pairs, learning about the writing methods of the two countries and developing series projects with international ambitions. The first of two writing workshops will be held in Israel in the fall, with a second to be held in the spring of next year in France. The projects developed through the program will be presented during Series Mania 2020, which will run from March 20 to 28.

Applications for the Franco-Israeli Co-Writing Residency for Drama Series will be accepted through September 20. An international jury will select the participants, who will be announced on November 6.

Laurence Herszberg, founder and general director of Series Mania, said: “From the beginning, it’s been part of Series Mania’s mission to strengthen creativity and international cooperation. This is a first initiative and we hope that there will be more in the future.”

Frédérique Bredin, president of CNC, added: “This residence is a first step. The idea is to build a creative incubator between our two countries to give birth to high-quality series for an international audience.”
