Series Mania Names Festival Winners

Series Mania has unveiled its festival winners across categories, with an international jury awarding four prizes among the nine series presented for the international competition.

The international competition’s grand prize went to Rematch (France/Hungary). The best writing award was won by Thomas Wendrich for Herrhausen—The Banker and the Bomb (Germany). The best actress award went to Annette Bening in Apples Never Fall (Australia/U.S.), and best actor was Kamel El Basha in House of Gods (Australia).

The international panorama awarded four prizes among the 12 series presented in French, European and world previews. Best series was Dates in Real Life (Norway); best directing was won by Javier Ambrossi and Javier Calvo for La Mesias (Spain); best actress was Robyn Malcolm in After the Party (Australia/New Zealand); and best actor was Kārlis Arnolds Avots in Soviet Jeans (Latvia). A student jury also awarded its prize to La Mesias.

The French competition awarded four prizes among the six French series presented. Machine won best series. Best actress went to Tiphaine Daviot in Murder Club, while best actor was won by Jérémy Gillet in Une amitié dangereuse. Best original score was taken by Julie Roué for Le monde n’existe pas.

The comedy competition’s category for best series was awarded to Videoland (Australia) by a high school jury. Best series in the short forms competition was named as Ceux qui rougissent (France/Switzerland). The audience award went to Soviet Jeans.
