Video Interview: Boarders’ Daniel Lawrence Taylor

Boarders is a new drama with humor about five underprivileged students from inner-city London who win scholarships to an elite boarding school. Created and written by Daniel Lawrence Taylor, who also appears in a cameo role, the six-part series follows these talented teens as they navigate not only the challenges of adolescence but also the harshness of institutional racism. Boarders was commissioned by the BBC, with Tubi as a U.S. partner, and is distributed by All3Media International.

Taylor talks to TV Drama Weekly about infusing the drama with humor, the use of code-switching and how we all experience otherness regardless of race or economic background, which makes Boarders relatable to all viewers.
