Roots Remake Sold into 50-Plus Markets

NEW YORK: A+E Networks has lined up broadcasters in more than 50 territories for its event miniseries Roots, which is set to air across five continents.

The eight-hour event is due to simulcast in the U.S. on HISTORY, A&E and Lifetime starting May 30. Following its World Premiere Screening at MIPTV, the miniseries has been sold to SBS (Australia), TVNZ (New Zealand), THAI PBS (Thailand), D’LIVE (South Korea), Atresmedia (Spain, first-window premiere), HBO (Spain, SVOD for a second window), HBO Europe (Central and Eastern Europe), HBO Nordic (SVOD), RTL (Netherlands), Crave (Canada), and HISTORY in Japan, Latin America, Southeast Asia, India and Africa.
