LOS ANGELES: FOX has given series orders to new dramas 24: Legacy, a spin-off of the popular franchise, and Star, which comes from Empire‘s Lee Daniels.

24: Legacy will serve as the next chapter in the action series from executive producer Howard Gordon (Homeland, 24: Live Another Day), executive producer Brian Grazer (A Beautiful Mind, 24), writers and executive producers Manny Coto and Evan Katz (24, 24: Live Another Day), director and executive producer Stephen Hopkins (24) and executive producer and original series star Kiefer Sutherland. Starring Corey Hawkins (Straight Outta Compton), Miranda Otto (Homeland) and Jimmy Smits (Sons of Anarchy), the spin-off chronicles an adrenaline-fueled race against the clock to stop a devastating terrorist attack on U.S. soil, in the same real-time format as the first two series.

Star is a music-infused drama from Daniels and Tom Donaghy (The Whole Truth). The series will follow three talented singers as they navigate the cut-throat music business on their road to success. Featuring three newcomers (Jude Demorest, Ryan Destiny and Brittany O’Grady) as the young singers, plus Queen Latifah (Bessie, Bringing Down the House) and Benjamin Bratt (24: Live Another Day, Law & Order), the series will showcase original music, along with musical fantasy sequences. The series will also feature guest star Lenny Kravitz (Lee DanielsThe Butler, The Hunger Games).
