FOX Renews Freshman Medical Drama Doc

FOX Entertainment has renewed the hit medical drama Doc for a 22-episode second season.

The freshman series’ premiere garnered more than 16 million viewers across platforms to date, making it FOX’s most-watched debut in over five years. Doc is also FOX’s most streamed premiere episode across seven-day viewing in over a year.

“We are thrilled that audiences have embraced season one of Doc,” said Michael Thorn, president of FOX Television Network. “Barbie and Hank have done an outstanding job bringing one of the most emotionally powerful series on television to life. Renewing for a second season was an easy decision, thanks to this incredible team, our partners at Sony, and an exceptional cast, led by the talented Molly Parker.”

“We’re ecstatic Doc has been picked up for a second season—a testament to the exceptional writing, captivating performances from our talented cast, and the incredible reception from audiences,” said Katherine Pope, president of Sony Pictures Television Studios. “We’re so grateful to our partners at FOX for their unwavering support as we continue making more episodes of this show!”

Doc follows the story of Dr. Amy Larsen, the hard-charging, brilliant ex-chief of Internal and Family Medicine at Westside Hospital and her colleagues, loved ones and rivals who must navigate a new reality when she returns to work after a brain injury erases the past eight years of her life. Doc stars Molly Parker (House of Cards), Omar Metwally (The Affair), Amirah Vann (How to Get Away with Murder), Jon Ecker (Firefly Lane) and Anya Banerjee (The Blacklist).

Doc is co-produced by Sony Pictures Television and FOX Entertainment Studios. It is inspired by a true story and is based on the Italian series Doc—Nelle tue mani, which was created and is produced by Lux Vide, a Fremantle Company.

Doc airs on Tuesdays at 9 p.m. and the next day on Hulu.
