Bad Wolf is adapting Metropolis from Philip Kerr’s Berlin Noir book series for Apple TV+.

Writer and executive producer Peter Straughan is on board the as-yet-untitled series, which will be produced by Bad Wolf and Playtone, with Jane Tranter, Dan McCulloch and Ryan Rasmussen also executive producing.

The series follows Bernie Gunther, a new recruit to the Berlin murder squad in the late 1920s, investigating a serial killer. Gary Goetzman and Tom Hanks executive produce for Playtone.

Kerr wrote 14 Bernie Gunther novels before his passing from cancer in 2018. His widow, the novelist Jane Thynne, owns the copyright to the works through their company Thynker.
