Netflix Sets Star-Studded Cast for Zero Day

Lizzy Caplan (Fleishman is in Trouble), Jesse Plemons (Power of the Dog), Joan Allen (The Bourne Ultimatum) and Connie Britton (The White Lotus) have joined Robert De Niro in Netflix’s Zero Day.

The six-part conspiracy thriller explores how to find truth in a world rife with conspiracy theories and subterfuge. De Niro leads the cast as former American President George Mullen, who is pulled from retirement to head a commission investigating a global cyber attack, while the new members star as people in his inner circle.

Caplan plays Alexandra Mullen, a young congresswoman who has sought to distance herself from her father’s political legacy, while Allen stars as Sheila Mullen, former First Lady whose professional ambitions have always taken a backseat to her husband’s career. Plemons stars as a former Mullen “body man” seeking a return to the national stage, and Britton is a savvy political operative who is Mullen’s former chief of staff.

The limited series comes from creators and executive producers Eric Newman for Grand Electric Productions (The Water, Narcos, Narcos: Mexico), Noah Oppenheim (Jackie, The Thing About Pam, The Maze Runner) and Michael S. Schmidt. Newman and Oppenheim are penning the series. Additional executives roducers are De Niro, Jonathan Glickman for Panoramic Media (Wednesday, Creed 3) and Lesli Linka Glatter (Homeland, Mad Men, Love & Death), who is also directing all episodes.
