ABC Australia’s Barons and Sky’s The Rising are both set to make their U.S. debuts on The CW Network on May 29.

Barons, created by Liz Doran (Doctor Doctor), Michael Lawrence (Bra Boys) and John Molloy (The Gloaming), takes places in 1971, a time of sexual liberation, social disruption, protest and war. Two best friends create iconic surf brands, but their successes tear them apart, and they are pulled into a world of corporate politics, homophobia and racial tension.

The Australian series is a Micanical Media, 2 Jons and Fremantle Australia production. Shawn Seet (Reckoning) directed the series in collaboration with Taylor Steele (Momentum Generation). Fremantle is handling global distribution of the series.

The Rising, from Sky Studios, is an adaptation of the Belgian crime thriller Beau Séjour and is written by Pete McTighe (A Discovery of Witches, The Pact) and Charlotte Wolf (The Last Kingdom). It tells the story of Neve Kelly, who discovers that she has been murdered. Determined to find her killer and get justice, she takes advantage of her new supernatural abilities to go where the police can’t and investigate her own death.

The series is executive produced by Serena Thompson (Landscapers) for Sky Studios, alongside Julian Stevens (The Fall, Informer) and McTighe. Ed Lilly (Industry) directed the series, which is distributed by NBCUniversal Global Distribution.

The Rising will debut at 8 p.m. on The CW Network on May 29, with Barons following at 9 p.m.
