Netflix Orders The Queen’s Gambit

Netflix has ordered the new limited series The Queen’s Gambit from Scott Frank (Godless, Logan).

Chronicling the life of an orphan chess prodigy, the story is set during the Cold War era. It follows Beth Harmon from the age of 8 to 22, as she struggles with addiction in a quest to become the greatest chess player in the world. The series is based on Walter Tevis’s novel.

Anya Taylor-Joy (Split, Glass, The Witch) will star as Beth Harmon in the six-episode series.
