Reality Distortion Field (RDF) has started on its Netflix series Warrior Nun in Malaga, Spain.

Inspired by the worldwide best-selling manga series from Ben Dunn and adapted by creator/showrunner Simon Barry, Warrior Nun tells the story of a 19-year-old woman who wakes up in a morgue with a new lease on life and a divine artifact embedded in her back. The recently announced cast includes Alba Baptista (Leviano), Toya Turner (Incredibles 2), Tristan Ulloa (Crash Test Aglaé), Thekla Reuten (In Bruges) and Kristina Tonteri-Young (The Crocodile’s Gift).

Co-founder Simon Barry said: “Audiences recognize authenticity. As storytellers, we always want to find ways to tell the best story in the most realistic way possible. Shooting in a country with such rich history, we are able to naturally dovetail our show’s existing mythology into these stunning locations.”

Co-founder Stephen Hegyes added: “Canada has more than 50 international co-production treaties with countries around the world. We’re a nation of filmmakers who are used to partnering with talent and resources beyond Canada. With the rise of SVOD players, and international broadcasters partnering to produce shows for a global audience, there has never been a better opportunity for Canadian talent to take the international stage.”
