Nordic Entertainment Group (NENT Group) has lined up the Swedish drama series A Class Apart, co-produced by Jarowskij and Brommamamma in partnership with Film i Väst, as its latest original for Viaplay.

The eight-part show uses the framework of a compelling mystery to examine social structures. It explores a hidden world of privilege, power and deadly secrets at an exclusive boarding school.

A Class Apart (Swedish title: Zebrarummet) stars Aliette Opheim (Thicker Than Water), Henrik Schyffert (Love Me) and Valter Skarsgård (Black Lake), together with Alva Bratt, Maxwell Vaz, Edvin Endre, Tiam Miladi, Wilma Lidén, Amanda Lindh, Adja Krook and Aviva Wrede.

The drama will premiere exclusively on NENT Group’s Viaplay streaming service.

Filippa Wallestam, NENT Group’s chief content officer, said: “As the European streaming champion, we want our storytelling to touch every part of society. Boarding schools are often worlds within a world and remain one of our most enigmatic institutions. Yet as viewers of Viaplay’s latest original series will discover, they are also complex spaces where young people’s hopes, dreams and tensions play out like anywhere else—an ideal setting for compelling and sometimes unsettling drama.”

Added Skarsgård: “This series intrigued me because it gave me the chance to play a character who is as different from me as it gets, in terms of both personality and lifestyle. At the same time, the show portrays an interesting world in a smart way. This is more than a teenage drama; we’re asking broader social questions.”
