Mediacorp Selects Winner of Indian Pilot Series

Vaan Varu Vaan, produced by Stardust Story, has been selected as the winner of Mediacorp’s Indian pilot series Vasantham Muthal Paarvai III.

Vaan Varu Vaan sees two stories narrated concurrently within the plot. It follows the life of Varu, an independent filmmaker, who gets caught up in her own romantic screenplay. As she begins to imagine herself as the main character in the fictional world who falls in love with another character, fantasy and reality start to merge.

The Singapore-based production house is now set to produce the pilot drama into a full-length series to be aired on Mediacorp’s platforms.

Launched on March 4 on meWATCH and on March 10 on Mediacorp’s YouTube Drama channel, Vasantham Muthal Paarvai III featured five new pilot dramas—from crime thrillers to imaginative sci-fi stories. Fans were then given the chance to vote for their favorite pilot drama to be produced into a series.

Vasantham Muthal Paarvai was created in 2019 to provide a platform for independent production houses to showcase their diverse works to a wider audience via its multiple platforms. This third edition aimed to fill the gap for writers in the industry with a new requirement for all participating production houses to include at least one new screenwriter or scriptwriter as part of each team’s writers’ room.
