Lionsgate has secured the worldwide distribution rights, outside of the U.S. and U.K., for the upcoming TV adaptation of Little Women.

A Playground production for BBC One and PBS’s Masterpiece, the new three-part adaptation of the classic novel by Louisa May Alcott comes from the creator of Call the Midwife, Heidi Thomas (Cranford, Upstairs Downstairs), and is directed by Vanessa Caswill (Thirteen, My Mad Fat Diary). Dylan Baker (The Good Wife, The Americans), Julian Morris (Pretty Little Liars, Hand of God) and Mark Stanley (Broken, Dickensian) have been added to the cast.

The three new additions come alongside the previously announced casting of Dame Angela Lansbury (Murder, She Wrote, The Manchurian Candidate), Michael Gambon (Harry Potter, Churchill’s Secret), Emily Watson (The Theory of Everything, Genius), Willa Fitzgerald (Scream: The TV Series, Misfortune), Annes Elwy (Philip K. Dick’s Electric Dreams) and Kathryn Newton (Big Little Lies, Halt and Catch Fire).
