After taking two years off from acting to raise her young daughter, Turkish actress Özge Özpirinçci returned to the screen to take on the role of Karsu in I Am Mother, a drama represented by Eccho Rights that centers on a woman in an unhappy, abusive marriage. When Karsu gives birth to their third child, she decides to send their 3-year-old son to Istanbul to stay with her mother, but to her horror, he disappears on the journey.
Özpirinçci talks to TV Drama Weekly’s Elizabeth Bowen-Tombari about what drew her to the story, the deeper themes of the show and how she prepared for the intense role.
