Hermione Norris, Lee Ingleby to Star in ITV Drama

LONDON: ITV has ordered the new contemporary drama series Innocent, starring Hermione Norris (Cold Feet) and Lee Ingleby (The A Word), from TXTV.

Innocent centers on a man who, after spending seven years in prison for the murder of his wife, is acquitted following a retrial. Now, he must begin the process of rebuilding his life, restoring his reputation and trying to win back custody of his children. The four-part show, which begins filming this month, is being directed by Richard Clark. It is penned by Chris Lang and Matt Arlidge.

Innocent is being produced by Jeremy Gwilt (Maigret Sets a Trap) and co-executive produced by Gwilt, Lang (Unforgotten) and Arlidge (Undeniable). Starring alongside Norris and Ingleby will be Daniel Ryan (Home Fires), Angel Coulby (Merlin), Nigel Lindsay (Victoria), Elliott Cowan (Da Vinci’s Demons) and Adrian Rowlins (Harry Potter).

Gwilt commented: “We are delighted to be making this show for our great friends within the ITV commissioning team and we’re excited to be working with such a talented and inspirational cast.”

Innocent is a contemporary relationship drama with a thriller pulse,” added Victoria Fea, ITV’s controller of drama. “Chris and Matt’s scripts have created an intense web of characters with interwoven lives—with a seemingly ordinary husband and father at its heart.”
