HBO has slated the debut of the seven-episode second season of The Last of Us for April.

Set five years after the events of the first season, the new episodes see Joel and Ellie drawn into conflict with each other in a world even more dangerous than the one they left behind. Pedro Pascal and Bella Ramsey return as Joel and Ellie, respectively, alongside new cast members such as Kaitlyn Dever and Isabela Merced.

The returning cast features Gabriel Luna and Retina Wesley, while the new cast also includes Young Mazino, Ariela Barer, Tati Gabrielle, Spencer Lord, Danny Ramirez and Jeffrey Wright. Catherine O’Hara also guest stars.

The Last of Us series, based on the video game franchise of the same name developed by Naughty Dog for PlayStation consoles, is written and executive produced by Craig Mazin and Neil Druckmann. It is a co-production with Sony Pictures Television and is also executive produced by Carolyn Strauss, Jacqueline Lesko, Cecil O’Connor, Asad Qizilbash, Carter Swan and Evan Wells, as well as writer and co-executive producer Halley Gross.

Season two will air on HBO and stream on Max in April.
