Free@Last TV and Quadrant Productions are working on a new drama anthology series based on classic crime novels published by HarperCollins.

In 2015, the publisher began reissuing titles from its archive imprints The Detective Club and The Crime Club, with 50 titles released to date and plans for more. Every season of The Classic Crime Club, the anthology series being developed by Free@Last TV (the Agatha Raisin TV movies) with Quadrant Productions, will encompass eight TV movies, each based on a different book. Executive producers are Barry Ryan and David A. Walton for Free@Last TV and Norman Coxall for Quadrant. HarperCollins will also executive produce.

Katie Fulford, special projects director for HarperCollins, commented, “This is a wonderful opportunity to introduce these classic crime stories to a new generation. The characters and plots featured in these books are timeless and HarperCollins look forward to working with Free@Last TV and Quadrant to bring them to life.”

Free@Last TV’s Ryan noted, “The enduring appeal of the detective novel and its accompanying television series or film is one of the literary and media marvels of the century. These evocative, original whodunnits are classic television events waiting to happen.”

Quadrant’s Coxall added, ‘The HarperCollins anthology combines the best of the two classic imprints The Detective Club and The Crime Club and the TV series will draw on this rich resource for a new anthology series bringing new characters and brilliant stories to life.”
