Dynamic Television has acquired the worldwide distribution rights to Kärnfilm and SVT’s suspense thriller The Fighter.

The series follows a determined boxer with a checkered past who is willing to do anything to fight for the World Championship title. When an investigator suspects her of cheating, her one dream is on the line, and she must decide if she’s really prepared to risk it all.

The Fighter is based on an original idea by Alexandra-Therese Keining, who is the series author together with screenwriters Henrik Engström and Jörgen Bergmark. Petra Jönsson and Karina Stääv Ardelius from Kärnfilm are producers. Andrea Östlund is conceptualizing director, with Fredrik Edfelt serving as episode director.

Production is currently underway, and the series is expected to premiere next year.

The Fighter is an original and thrilling story set in a gritty and tough world that audiences haven’t seen,” said Daniel March and Klaus Zimmermann, managing partners for Dynamic Television. “We knew we wanted to partner with Kärnfilm and SVT the minute we read this fantastic material, and we couldn’t be more excited to bring this show to our worldwide clients.”

The series stars Madeleine Martin (Breaking Surface, Riverside) in the lead role. Additional cast includes Jennie Silfverhjelm (Beck, The Girl Who Played with Fire), Joel Spira (Top Dog, Thicker Than Water), Ralph Carlsson (Snöänglar, The Girl Who Played with Fire), Emil Almén (Gåsmamman, The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo), Maryam Moghaddam (Ballad of a White Cow), Erika Cardenas Hedenberg (The Restaurant), Adja Krook (Dröm), Ingela Olsson (Young Royals, Så som i himmelen), Dragomir Mrsic (Edge of Tomorrow) and Rasmus Troedsson (The Hunt for a Killer, Vår tid är nu).
