The tentatively titled Taiwan Crime Stories, from Imagine Entertainment, Taiwan’s CALFILMS and Hong Kong’s Sixty Percent Productions, is slated to roll out on Disney+ in 2022.

“The thrill of storytelling is universal, and it has been a privilege for us to have been able to work hand-in-hand with this talented and inspired group of international directors and writers on Taiwan Crime Stories,” said Imagine’s Brian Grazer and Ron Howard in a joint statement. “We are excited to extend our partnership with Disney into the international marketplace to bring this series to the local market and to audiences worldwide.”

“We hope to produce high-quality content in line with international standards and distinctly innovative Chinese-language crime series,” said producer Lin Bing-Yu of CALFILMS and producer Cora Yim Ka-Nim of Sixty Percent Productions.

Inspired by true crime cases from Taiwan, the 12-episode production stars Rhydian Vaughan, Patrick Shih, Simon Hsueh, Allison Lin, Frederick Lee and Wang Po-Chieh, among others.

Distributed by Hong Kong-based Medialink, season one includes “Derailment,” about the investigation into a train derailment, adapted and directed by screenwriters Liu Tsun-Han and Aozaru Shiao; and “A Matter of Life and Death,” about a family mass murder, from screenwriter Shi Hong-Ru and directors Hung Tzu-Hsuan and Scott Hung. Filming on the third and fourth stories will begin in Q1 2022. “Dark Currents” will be directed by Hsu Jui-Liang with Liang Shu-Ting as screenwriter. The production team of “Gravity Of Sin” features director Fan Yang-Chong and screenwriter Lin Yu-Chen.
