David O. Russell Mafia Series Lands at Amazon

LOS ANGELES: Amazon and The Weinstein Company have reportedly secured a two-season commitment for a new mafia crime series from Silver Linings Playbook and American Hustle director/writer David O. Russell.

The series has Robert De Niro and Julianne Moore attached as leads. Details on the plot are still under wraps. Russell is said to be writing and directing each of the eight-episode seasons.

Russell will also produce alongside Annapurna Pictures’ Megan Ellison, who he collaborated with on Joy and American Hustle, as well as Alexandra Milchan (Bullet to the Head) and Scott Lambert (Paranoia).
