Channel 4 & Hulu’s The Light Adds to Cast

Sidse Babett Knudsen (Westworld), Mark Lewis Jones (Chernobyl), Joanna Scanlan (Notes on a Scandal) and Genevieve Barr (Call the Midwife) are among the actors joining Sarah Lancashire (Happy Valley) in the tentatively titled new drama The Light.

Written by the award-winning theater, film and television screenwriter Jack Thorne and directed by Sandra Goldbacher, The Light (w/t) explores a forgotten Welsh community that’s been devastated by an explosion at the construction site of a regeneration project. The disaster, which claims the lives of children who had broken into the building site, leaves the town roiled by grief and anger amid the search for justice. The four-part series will also star Shaun Parkes, Adrian Scarborough, Eiry Thomas, Nabhaan Rizwan and newcomer Jade Croot.

Produced by The Forge, The Light (w/t) was commissioned by Channel 4 in the U.K. Hulu in the U.S. is co-producing the series, which will premiere on the platform as part of its originals slate. all3media international will handle global sales.
