FremantleMedia International has placed its new dramas Hard Sun and Picnic at Hanging Rock with Canal+ in France.

Hard Sun is a pre-apocalyptic crime drama set in contemporary London. It is penned by Neil Cross, creator of Luther. The series, which stars Jim Sturgess (One Day, 21) and Agyness Deyn (Sunset Song), is produced by FremantleMedia UK’s Euston Films for BBC One and Hulu.

Picnic at Hanging Rock, produced by FremantleMedia Australia for Foxtel, stars Natalie Dormer (Game of Thrones) in a reimagining of Joan Lindsay’s Australian novel.

Al De Azpiazu, VP of sales and distribution for FremantleMedia International in Western Europe, said: “Hard Sun and Picnic at Hanging Rock are two of FremantleMedia’s most anticipated upcoming dramas. Despite being very different stories, a Neil Cross thriller and spellbinding adaptation of a classic novel, I’m confident both must-see series will make a lasting impression on Canal+ audiences across France.”

Gérald-Brice Viret, the executive VP of Canal+ TV channels, added: “We are very excited to be adding both Hard Sun and Picnic at Hanging Rock to our lineup of foreign drama. These new series will appeal to our subscribers who are always keen to discover original programs.”
