Cameron Pictures (Law & Order Toronto: Criminal Intent, Mary Kills People, Pretty Hard Cases) has added Karen Tsang as VP of creative affairs as the company expands its creative team.

In the newly formed role, Tsang will oversee the creative pipeline of original scripted series. She will report to CPI’s co-founders, the sibling filmmaking duo of Tassie Cameron and Amy Cameron.

“Karen is so smart, and she has a remarkable eye for developing standout stories and characters,” said Tassie Camerom. “Her creative expertise, strong relationship with writers and leadership experience will be huge assets to us as we continue to bring compelling series to life.”

Amy Cameron added, “Karen’s passion for creator-driven storytelling, her relationships with buyers and her commitment to collaborating with some of Canada’s most exciting talent will be invaluable as we develop comedy and drama projects for Canadian and international audiences.”

“I have long admired Tassie and Amy’s passion for storytelling and the bold and engaging work they’ve created at Cameron Pictures,” said Tsang. “I’m honored to join such an accomplished team and excited to champion fresh voices and ambitious projects for a global audience.”

Tsang’s previous role was at Pier 21 Films as senior VP of creative affairs, where she led the creative development and production of the company’s scripted slate. Her portfolio includes credits on the three seasons of Run the Burbs (airing on CBC in Canada and The CW and Hulu in the U.S.) as executive producer, as well as the debut season of Late Bloomer for Crave and Don’t Even for Crave and APTN.

Before her role at Pier 21, Tsang spent eight years at CBC, where she oversaw 150 episodes of original programming through the development and production. Her credits include Baroness Von Sketch Show (acquired by IFC), TallBoyz, Mr. D and This Hour Has 22 Minutes.

In addition to tapping Tsang, CPI has promoted Caledonia Brown from co-producer to supervising producer/VP of operations.
