Marking a departure from her previous leading roles in supernatural-themed television series such as The CW’s Smallville and Beauty & the Beast, Kristin Kreuk is now starring in the legal drama Burden of Truth. In the 10×60-minute show, she portrays big-city corporate attorney Joanna Hanley, who finds herself investigating the mystery surrounding a group of sick high school girls—as well as her own family secrets—when she returns to her small hometown for a case.

ICF Films, Entertainment One and Eagle Vision are producing Burden of Truth for Canada’s CBC, where the show is due to debut next year.
