BBC Studios Drama Productions has launched Writers’ Studio: EastEnders, an open script call for those looking to develop their writing career in continuing drama.

The open call process will shortlist eight writers, who will each write one paid trial script with the support of the in-house development editor. Then, up to five commissioning slots will be available on EastEnders. The program is now accepting submissions through April 22.

EastEnders, produced by BBC Studios Drama Productions, is one of the U.K.’s longest-running TV dramas. It is now approaching its 40th year on air.

The eight selected applicants will be chosen by the end of May. The program is being run through BBC Studios TalentWorks.
