BBC Acquires Romanian Espionage Drama

The Romanian Cold War-era thriller Spy/Master has been picked up by the BBC from Warner Bros. Discovery.

The six-part series will land on BBC iPlayer and TV channels. Produced by Proton Cinema and Mobra Films, the title follows one week in the life of the right-hand man to the Romanian president.

Spy/Master stars Alec Secăreanu (Happy Valley) and Claudiu Bleonț (Lasa-ma, imi place!), along with Aidan McArdle, Ana Ularu, Laurențiu Bănescu, Andreea Vasile, Nico Mirallegro, lulian Postelnicu and Elvira Deatcu.

Sue Deeks, head of BBC program acquisition, said: “A classic spy drama set at the height of the Cold War, Spy/Master is an atmospheric, complex thriller, dripping with style and suspense.”
