A newly signed deal between FremantleMedia International (FMI) and ARTE will see the psychological thriller Apple Tree Yard airing in France and Germany.

Produced by Kudos, Apple Tree Yard is a courtroom drama that tells the story of Yvonne Carmichael, whose act of adultery unleashes a storm of events. The show routinely won its time slot in the U.K. across the season, achieving a consolidated average audience of 7.14 million viewers and a 25.7 percent market share, making it BBC One’s highest-rated drama launch since The Night Manager.

Al De Azpiazu, the VP of sales and distribution for Western Europe at FMI, said: “Apple Tree Yard is an electrifying and suspense-filled thriller from one of the most prolific drama producers in the world. With its mix of incredible story twists and compelling characters, I’ve no doubt that the show will captivate ARTE’s audience across France and Germany.”

The series includes a brilliant mix of genres such as adulterous romance, psy thriller, revenge tragedy and courtroom drama as well as outstanding performances by Emily Watson and Ben Chaplin.”
