All3Media International has secured a raft of international acquisitions for SISTER’s Better across Europe, Australia, New Zealand, South America and the U.S.

Written and created by Jonathan Brackley and Sam Vincent, Better follows the story of Lou (Leila Farzad), a high-ranking police officer, whose shared history with powerful criminal Col (Andrew Buchan) continues to bind her to him. When Lou’s teenage son almost dies, she finds herself grappling with a painful moral awakening.

Following the series premiere on commissioning broadcaster BBC One in the U.K. earlier this year, Hulu has become the latest international partner to launch the five-parter, with all episodes now available in the U.S.

The series also launched on Pickbox in the Balkans, Sýn hf in Iceland, Binge and Foxtel On Demand in Australia and on TVNZ in New Zealand. Additional recent deals set to see the drama play later this year include BritBox International for Denmark, Norway, Finland and Sweden; NPO in the Netherlands; VRT in Belgium; and America Video Films S.A. in a deal covering South America.

Maartje Hochner, executive VP of content at All3Media International, commented: “SISTER’s utterly compelling series breathes new life into the traditional police corruption drama, offering both a fast-paced, tightly plotted thriller and compelling character study of a woman grappling with her conscience and morality after decades of wrongdoing.

“Featuring a stellar central performance from Leila Farzad, who expertly balances Lou’s flawed and complex journey to redemption with wit, humor and humanity, Better’s enthralling storytelling, universally powerful themes and fantastic cast have connected with leading international partners and their audiences around the world.”
