ZDF Commissions Three-Part German-Italian Family Epic

Filming has begun on a new three-part German-Italian family history feature for ZDF under the working title Bella Germania.

A cross-generational epic, the 3×90-minute feature follows the first Italian guest workers, in the 1960s, on their journey from foreign guests to the familiar neighbors in today’s Germany. The story tells of their search for identity, love and a home, and of the expectations and disappointments along the way. ZDF Enterprises will represent worldwide distribution outside the ZDF rights.

Bavarian Film Production is working on the piece for ZDF. Filming is expected to go on until October 17, and a broadcast date has yet to be set.
