Les Beaux Malaises Lands French-Language Belgian Adaptation

Belgium’s French-language public broadcaster, RTBF, has acquired the rights for an adaptation of Les Beaux Malaises from Encore Television-Distribution.

Produced by Belgian Mafia Films in collaboration with La Belge Prod and CRAZY COW, the adaptation will star comedian Kody as Martin and actor Naima Rodric as Julie.

Les Beaux Malaises was created by Martin Matte and written in collaboration with François Avard. It was originally produced by Encore Television and Matte TV in collaboration with Quebecor Content for TVA. It has already been adapted in France, Serbia and the Balkans and Flemish Belgium.

“The public’s appreciation has only grown—Les Beaux Malaises is as current as ever, both bold and profoundly human,” said Chrystine Girard, head of international distribution at Encore Television-Distribution. “It’s a series that makes you feel good! And through the magic of adaptation, the audience, no matter where it is, will see itself in the show.”

Michel Daemen from CRAZY COW, a co-producer of the new adaptation, added, “The enormous success of the Flemish version broadcast on VRT convinced RTBF to order its own adaptation. Kody’s popularity and personality will charm a large audience. Les Beaux Malaises will surely have a lasting impact in Belgium, as it’s the very first series there to be adapted both in Flemish and in French.”
