Boston Blue to Make Debut at MIPCOM Cannes

Paramount Global Content Distribution’s Boston Blue, an expansion of the Blue Bloods franchise, will make its debut on the eve of MIPCOM Cannes on October 12.

Lead star and executive producer Donnie Wahlberg and star Sonequa Martin-Green will be in attendance for a Q&A following the screening of the first episode at 6 p.m. in the Grand Auditorium of the Palais des Festivals.

Boston Blue centers on NYPD Detective Danny Reagan, who takes a position with the Boston Police Department and is paired with Detective Lena Silver, the eldest daughter of a prominent law enforcement family. As Reagan settles into his new city, he also hopes to reconnect with his younger son, who is beginning his own police career in Boston.

In addition to Wahlberg and Martin-Green, the cast features Bridget Moynahan, Mika Amonsen, Gloria Reuben, Maggie Lawson, Marcus Scribner and Ernie Hudson.

The series is produced by CBS Studios and Jerry Bruckheimer Television. Brandon Sonnier and Brandon Margolis are showrunners and executive producers. Additional executive producers are Bruckheimer, KristieAnne Read and Wahlberg. Paramount Global Content Distribution handles international distribution.

Boston Blue’s MIPCOM debut comes ahead of the show’s premiere on CBS on October 17 in the U.S.

“We are excited to bring Donnie Wahlberg and Sonequa Martin-Green to Cannes to help us unveil the first episode of Boston Blue, the next chapter in the Blue Bloods universe, to global media executives at MIPCOM Cannes,” said Lisa Kramer, president of international content licensing at Paramount Global Content Distribution. “CBS Studios continues to lead in creating iconic procedurals with which audiences around the globe connect, and we look forward to work with international licensees to build out the Blue Bloods universe.”

Lucy Smith, director of MIPCOM Cannes and MIPJunior, added, “Interest in the Reagan family and the Blue Bloods universe is deep-seated and truly global, making this next chapter, led by the brilliant Donnie Wahlberg with its new setting, characters and stories a perfect premiere on the eve of MIPCOM Cannes this year.”
